The Chamber is actively tracking the progress of new commuter rail service into Goleta.

Commuter rail service has been a dream for local officials and transportation activists for nearly two decades. The Chamber is a long time supporter of this effort. The end goal is for Amtrak to run its Pacific Surfliner from Ventura County to Santa Barbara County in the early morning, with arrivals into Santa Barbara before 8 a.m. and departures out around 5 p.m.

The Santa Barbara County Association of Governments voted unanimously on February 16, 2017 to spend $50,000 on a consultant to evaluate several possibilities for implementing rail service.
